Weddings

Congratulations! You are now organising one of the most exciting days of your lives. It can also be a little stressful. But as we journey with you, we want to make it as joyful and as stress free as possible.

The wedding is a celebration of your love and commitment to each other. The marriage ceremony takes place before friends and family and God. We include in the marriage, a commitment from all gathered that they will support and love you as you build your relationship.

Our weddings are conducted according to the rites of the Uniting Church in Australia who recently decided that their Ministers can marry same gender partners. Our Ministers and our congregations welcome same gender couples who wish to celebrate their commitment at our church.

Our Ministers will guide you through the legal and church requirements, and help you develop a ceremony that celebrates you as a couple. Should you wish your wedding to take place at another venue, that can also be arranged.

If you would like to have a chat about your upcoming marriage, please contact one of our Office Administrators who will arrange a time for you to view our facilities and provide you with the preliminary details. Should you wish to proceed, they will arrange a time for you to meet with our Ministers.

Baptisms

Whatever age you are, baptism is a sacrament, and when you are baptised you become a member of the Uniting Church in Australia.

By becoming a member, you are welcomed into the faith community. Baptisms are celebrated during our regular services where the gathered community makes promises to support the person being baptised.

Some parents feel they don’t want to have their baby baptised, but rather leave the decision to the child as they grow older. If this is you, we can offer a dedication service. This is a service that gives thanks to God for the safe arrival of the baby and offers the community the chance to bless and celebrate with the family.

There is no charge for baptism – we are the ones who are blessed when a new person or family chooses to join our community.

If you would like to have a chat about being baptised, please contact one of our Office Administrators who will arrange for our Ministers to have a chat with you.

Funerals

We understand that the death of a loved one is a difficult time and can be the cause of much anxiety. You are welcome to phone us to speak to one of our Ministers, who can help you through this time.

In the Uniting Church, a funeral is a both a remembrance and a celebration of the life that has been lost. It gives thanks to God for the gift of the person and acknowledges that the physical life is not the end. We dedicate the person who has died into the hands of God.

Our Ministers can lead funerals at our church or at another venue of choice. They will visit you and your family to hear about the person who has died, liaise with the funeral directors and talk with you about how you would like to remember and celebrate their life. Our funerals are led according to the rites of the Uniting Church in Australia.

If you would are requiring assistance with a funeral, we suggest that you contact one of our Office Administrators who will provide you with preliminary details and arrange for one of our Minister to contact you.
